I recommend using a pattern to knit a sweater. The designer gives the yarn weight and yardage. The example pattern I’m using is the Rowan Brownie by Marie Wallin. It’s a great option for beginners. Also, to knit this on a machine requires a different amount of yarn. For more info, see my post.

Note: These measurements are for an adult sweater, and while mohair is a lovely fiber, it’s a little scratchy for those with sensitive skin, especially babies. If you want to see how much yarn to knit a baby sweater, read my guide.
