I highly recommend using a pattern to knit a medium sweater. The designer gives details of the yarn weight and the yardage. The example pattern I’m using is the Adult’s Knit V- Neck Pullover by Yarnspirations. It’s a great option for beginners.

To knit a medium sweater with finished chest measurements of 40.5″ (103 cm) using the example pattern you need a min. of 1260 yards (1152 meters) of Worsted Weight #4 yarn, total weight of 24 oz (680.4g).

Number of skeins is 4 skeins (each skein weighs 6 oz/ 170.1 g).
